For next term payment for lessons is made in advance during the first week of the term. This ensures that a time is reserved for you, or your child’s lesson on the timetable. No exceptions can be made.
As a minimum 24 hours notice is required for any cancellation or absence so that a future date can be scheduled. If the lesson is cancelled due to sickness the teacher will endeavour to make up the lesson depending on the circumstances. If the lesson is missed without making contact then that lesson time will not be made up and a refund will not be forthcoming. Please do not attend the lesson if you or your child are sick – if that is the case the lesson will not proceed.
If for any reason a parent or student wishes to withdraw this is made on a termly basis and refund will not be available. If for any reason the lessons are not seen to be progressing, then the teacher can make the decision to end tuition and the remaining fees will be refunded.
It is important that students accept their responsibility for practice. Parents play a pivotal role in the progress of their child, so active support and encouragement are vital in developing a successful teacher/student/parent-child partnership.
Piano students must have an acoustic piano, or a digital piano with 88 weighted keys and sustain pedal at home. During the course of the year, various music books will need to be purchased. The teacher may buy these on behalf of the student, and they will be invoiced to the party concerned.
If the student wishes to sit a practical or theory exam, the exam fee needs to be paid before being registered for the exam. Exam fees are non-refundable.
At the Lesson
Please endeavour to arrive promptly to your lesson, and enter the Studio; lesson time cannot be extended due to late arrival. Please ensure that you arrive with clean hands, and trimmed fingernails or wash hands at the Studio for which facilities are provided. Food and drink, apart from water, are not permitted during lessons, and please remove shoes at the door. Parents are more than welcome to attend!
